Environmental stress likely cause of fish die-off on Vancouver Island

Hundreds of dead salmon and trout were discovered in the Cowichan River in mid-July, and now Fisheries and Oceans Canada says the cause of death was likely lesions caused by environmental stress. Warm water and low oxygen levels can make fish more likely to succumb to infection.
